Elm Creek Quilts - where my love of quilting and reading unite! There are now eleven books in this series with a new book coming out in April. The books are based around an expert quilter - Sylvia Compson, her quilts, her family history, and the quilters' retreat she runs at Elm Creek Manor.
While many of the books focus on contemporary women and their complicated lives, others deal exclusively with people of the past. Still others combine the two. This variety keeps the series fresh and interesting. Though some titles can be enjoyed as "stand alone" novels, the series as a whole will be best enjoyed if read in order. In addition to the novels, this delightful author has also published several books of quilt patterns. For more information, check out Jennifer Chiaverini's website: http://elmcreek.net/index.php
Shirlee: if nothing else, our weather here is quite varied and unpredictable. This week our temps range from 50's to 70's with the possibility of strong thunderstorms. They could just as easily drop to the 20's and 30's by next week. We never know. No matter what, though, pansies are always a cool-weather plant here. We can typically plant them in the fall and expect them to last into April when our weather begins to get quite warm. I can't even imagine below zero temps! Brrrr!
